Our Diversity
Heathen |
Originally, Heathen merely meant "dweller on the Heath." It was a name applied to those country folks who were far from the influence of foreign ideas and philosophies. These folks were the practioners of the Northern European religions known now as Asatru and Vanitru. We proudly wear the name our ancestors were given for their stedfast belief and practice. Heathens celebrate holidays that relate to the seasons of the year and the will of the Gods and Goddesses we serve. We do not ask whether one has faith. It is not a required part of our practice.. We are tolerant of other religions beliving that each person must seek the path that is right for him or her. It was the last of the religions to yield to Christianity and is still recognized as a state religion in both Ireland and Lithaunia. Many of the young pagans who are registering as such in our current armed forces are actually Heathen by practice and nature.
